Retiree Council at Belmont

Local 79 appreciates the tremendous sacrifices and contributions of its retired members. Their commitment and hard work has contributed to the overall success of the Local. As a result, the Local 79 Retiree Committee was formed in 1996 to help keep the Local's retirees connected with its current members and advocate for better retiree benefits.

ALL RETIREE EVENTS INCLUDE:

  •  Never any out of pocket cost to members
  •  Food, beverage, & admission always provided
  •  Spouses are welcomed and encouraged to attend
  •  Giveaways and prizes

Local 79 publishes a quarterly newsletter to keep the retirees informed about news of the Local, benefit changes and upcoming events. These events are hugely popular among both retirees and the Local's leadership The Laborers' Local 79 Retiree Council was formed in 1999. It is comprised of retired members elected on a yearly basis. Their resposibilities include: * Maintaining ties to the Laborers' International Union of North America, LIUNA * Recommending social & recreational activities * Keeping retirees informed of union programs and policies * Enlisting support of retirees for political objectives * Advocating special needs and problems to the Local * Forming committees of special interest
